ANNUAL CORE FESTIVAL & HEALTH EXPO
The NYYRC joins the Congress of Racial Equality to support the ANNUAL CORE FESTIVAL & HEALTH EXPO.
This Saturday, August 5, our friends at CORE are hosting a 15 block street festival produced in the heart of the Times Square Theater District. It features over 500 ethnic vendors and small businesses that reflect the ethnic components of New York City. Imbedded within this colorful event is one block dedicated to health issues, diagnostic testing and free health information and symposium.
With the help of us young republicans, CORE will be staffing a few booths. Some will be to promote basic services like voter registration, which we can help with, and there will also be a table for the NRA, which YR's can help out at. Also, volunteers who give at least two hours will be given priority consideration to volunteer at next January's MLK dinner (which will feature leading presidential contender Sen. George Allen).
Time slots that need coverage are 11am - 1pm, 1pm - 3pm, 3pm - 5pm and 4pm - 6pm. YR Chairman Robert Hornak will be on site to help coordinate, so to sign up for a slot please RSVP to him at roberth@nycyr.org or 718-358-2848. Volunteers should arrive at the main CORE booth on 7th Ave between 52 and 53 streets in front of the Sheraton Hotel (same place the YR tent is for our annual street fair) and will be given assignments there.
See you Saturday!!
