Kellyanne is a Republican strategist and pollster. She is President & CEO of The Polling Company, a full-service qualitative and quantitative research firm. She regularly appears as a guest on television and radio news programs and is frequently quoted in print.

Rob Astorino

Rob is the Republican candidate for Westchester County Executive.

Nick Adams

Nick is a young Australian conservative who holds the distinction of being the youngest Deputy Mayor to ever be elected at the age of 21. He is a Media and Communications graduate with a major in Government & International Relations from the University of Sydney, and a registered public affairs consultant. Along with a strong Australian media profile, Nick is an accomplished orator, who tours the world addressing various organizations. Nick has a passionate love for the United States of America and everything she stands for. His greatest political heroes are Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan. During his time in local government, Nick has proudly flown the flag of conservatism, fighting for traditional family values, freedom for residential development and encouraging and protecting small and large business.

Star Parker is the founder and president of CURE, the
Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education
, a non-profit think tank that provides a national voice of reason on issues of race and poverty in the media, inner city neighborhoods, and public policy. She has debated Jesse Jackson on BET; fought for school choice on Larry King Live; defended welfare reform on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and spoke at the 1996 Republican National Convention.

Mark Leslie

Mayor Mark Leslie is the former Mayor of Waukee, Iowa, the fastest growing city in the state of Iowa. He will discuss his experience of being a political leader in a red state, the path he took to become mayor, and how those lessons can be applied to blue state republican politics. He will also discuss how his experience in politics introduced him to the importance of public service.

Mayor Leslie now resides in Princeton, New Jersey, and is currently a Divisional Vice President for Macy's Department Stores in New York City. He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his MBA in Marketing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

We will continue our theme of Rebuilding the Republican Party at the grassroots level and address a public policy issue where our Club takes a position and encourage the local Party officers and candidates to take the same.

Joel Mowbray is an award-winning investigative journalist and nationally-syndicated columnist. His work has been published in a wide variety of top publications, including the Wall Street Journal, L.A. Times, National Review, New York Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, San Diego Union-Tribune, Investors Business Daily, Philadelphia Inquirer, Arizona Republic, Manchester Union Leader, FrontPage magazine, Jewish World Review, and Washington Times. With tenacious reporting and insightful commentary, Joel has become a leading expert on the original Axis of Evil: Iran, Iraq, and North Korea; its unindicted co-conspirator, Saudi Arabia; and the Middle East's original democracy, Israel. He is best-known for his exposés of the State Department which led to the end of Visa Express in Saudi Arabia and the firing of the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs, Mary Ryan. Ryan Sager is a political columnist who has been featured in the New York Sun and New York Post often expressing his libertarian based beliefs. His is author of the book, The Elephant in the Room. Mr. Sager will discuss why he believes the GOP lost big time this November election and what the Republican Party in New York City should do to rebuild locally.

Grassroots Initiative will be sending a representative to explain their research and efforts in rebuilding political organizations from all political parties from the grassroots level and how we can work towards rebuilding the Republican Party to competitive levels for each county of New York City. George J. Marlin is the author/editor of ten books including Squandered Opportunities: New York's Pataki Years (2006), The American Catholic Voter: Two Hundred Years of Political Impact (2004) and Fighting the Good Fight: A History of the New York Conservative Party (2002). In 1993, Mr. Marlin was the Conservative Party nominee for mayor of the City of New York, and in 1994 he served on Governor-elect Pataki's transition team. His articles have appeared in numerous periodicals including The New York Times, New York Post, National Review, Newsday, The Washington Times and the New York Daily News.

Special Guests


Dr. Betsy McCaughey is an Adjunct Fellow with the Hudson Institute. Her areas of expertise are Health Care Policy, American Politics and Constitutional Law. She is founder and Chairman of the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths (RID) – a national campaign to support greater infection control in hospitals and other health care institutions. Her research on how to prevent infection deaths has been featured on ABC's Good Morning America, the CBS Morning Show, 20/20, Dateline NBC, and many other national television and radio programs. And her steps that patients can take to help protect themselves from infection was featured recently in the Wall Street Journal."

In 1994 Betsy McCaughey wrote an influential piece in the New Republic, which helped end the Democrat's nationalization of Healthcare. In 1994, she was elected Lieutenant Governor of New York alongside George Pataki on the Republican and Conservative lines. In 1998 McCaughey-Ross ran for governor on the Liberal Party line.


S.E. Cupp studied art history at Cornell University and worked for her college paper, the Cornell Daily Sun, as the Arts & Entertainment editor. During college, she worked for the Vose Galleries in Boston, the Whistler Museum, and the Johnson Museum as an intern. She graduated a year early and worked for short periods at an online magazine and a PR company. In 2002, she was hired by the New York Times to write and edit for the Index Department.

She is currently pursuing a Masters degree at NYU in religious studies, and plans to write about American culture, including politics, sports and religion, in the future.

She is also a classically trained dancer and danced for Ellicott City Ballet, Washington Ballet and Boston Ballet for a period of 10 years.


Brett Joshpe graduated from Cornell University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Harvard Law School in 2005 with a Juris Doctor. While in law school, Brett formed a student organization called Students for Protecting America, which garnered national media attention for its support of the war in Iraq. He also served on the Republican National Committee's 72 hour task force in Miami, Florida in the days leading up to the 2004 Presidential election.

He also worked as a corporate and real estate attorney at the law firm of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. He now serves as a corporate counsel at the law firm of Wrobel & Schatz LLP and has several business pursuits outside of law, including serving as a principal in the commercial real estate firm, Iconik Enterprises, LLC.

Their book, "Why You’re Wrong About the Right" will be available for purchase at the end of the Forum.

Herbert London is president of the Hudson Institute, a world renown think-tank in Washington DC. He is currently on the Hudson Institute Board of Directors; the Board of Directors of the National Chamber Foundation; the Board of Directors of the International Transportation Systems; the Board of Trustees for Merrill Lynch Assets Management, the Board of Directors of the National Association for Industry-Education Cooperation, to name only a few.

In 1989, Dr. London was one of the Republican candidates for Mayor of New York City. In 1990 he was the Conservative Party Candidate for Governor of New York garnering more votes than any third party candidate in the state's history. In 1994 he was the Republican Party candidate for New York State Comptroller losing in a close election.

His new book, just released, is, "American Secular Challenge."

Jason Riley is a member of the editorial board for The Wall Street Journal. He writes editorials on a variety of political and public policy issues, including economics, immigration, education and telecommunications.

In October 1994, Mr. Riley joined the Journal as a copyreader on the national news desk in New York. He moved to the editorial page in May 1995 and later became a copy editor for the page. In April 1996, he was named to the newly created position of editorial interactive editor and maintained the editorial and Leisure & Arts section of WSJ.com, the Journal’s online edition. He was named a senior editorial page writer in March 2000 and was appointed to his current position in November 2005.

Mr. Riley appears regularly on the Journal Editorial Report on Fox News. He’s also appeared on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Hannity and Colmes, Lou Dobbs, NPR and ABC’s World News Tonight.

He is the author of a book on U.S. immigration policy, "Let Them In: The Case for Open Borders,"

The next New York Young Republican Club, Inc meeting will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008.


Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld is the Director of the American Center for Democracy and an author who writes on terrorism and corruption-related topics. She has lectured on these issues in many countries, and has advised banking communities, law enforcement agencies, and governments, including the U.S. Defense Department's Threat Reduction Agency. She testified before the European Parliament on how the Palestinian Authority uses aid money to fund its terror activities, provided evidence to the British Parliament on the corruption of the PA, and testified before the U.S. Congress on terrorism related issues. She currently works on issues related to the Financial and Economic Jihad against America and the West. Dr. Ehrenfeld's writings also appear in the New York Sun as well as many other news publications.


Dr. Ehrenfeld is author of the book, Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed - and How to Stop It. The controversy surrounding a lawsuit brought by one of the alleged terror financiers, Khalid Salim A Bin Mahfouz again Dr. Ehrenfeld in a British court, sparked New York State's, nicknamed "Rachel's Law", which protects American journalists and writers against having local courts enforce malicious foreign prosecution. The Libel Terrorism Protection Act of 2008 empowers New York courts to assert jurisdiction over anyone who obtains a foreign libel judgment against a New York publisher or writer and limits enforcement only to those judgments that satisfy "the freedom of speech and press protections guaranteed by both the United States and New York Constitutions."
